(When) are childcare places available?
Kukita fills most nursery and kindergarten places anew on 1 September each year. Places also become available during the year from time to time when families leave because of a move.
If you are on our waiting list, we will contact you and let you know about the place that has become free. We also publish free places on our website.
How does the contract process work?
Once we have met and your interest in a childcare place has been confirmed, we will send you a childcare contract. You can read it through in peace, either on site or at home.
If you would like to enter into the contract, please sign it. We then check one last time that the place is still available, to rule out any overlaps. If everything is in order, you will receive the countersigned contract back within a maximum of 5 working days.
Can I get a place at Kukita if I do not live in Munich?
No. We can only admit new children from Munich: as we are part of the Munich childcare funding programme (Münchner Kitaförderung), only children who live in Munich can be admitted.
There is one rule for children who are already in our care and whose parents move away from Munich: they may stay as a guest child until the end of the nursery year.
What are guest children?
Guest children are children who are already in our care and whose parents move away from Munich. The guest child rule applies only to these children and only until the end of the nursery year.
We can only admit new children from Munich. The parental fees for guest children are listed in the price table on the page of the respective location.
Is Kukita approved and funded by the City of Munich?
Yes, we are approved and funded by the City of Munich.
Settling in
When will I find out more about settling in and everything else?
If you wish, we can discuss questions about settling in at the first information meeting.
Before care begins, the educator in charge will have a detailed conversation with you. You will receive details about your child's future group and a welcome folder, so that you and your child can prepare in the best possible way for the start in the nursery or kindergarten.
How long does settling in take for my nursery child?
Careful settling in is a cornerstone of our educational work and crucial for your child's positive development and integration into the group. Nursery children usually need about 4–6 weeks for this; in individual cases it can take longer. For kindergarten children, settling in usually takes no longer than a week.
Education and daily life
How do you make sure my child feels secure at Kukita?
A trusting relationship is the foundation of our educational work. Our educators accompany each child attentively, sensitively and with respect for their individual needs, because children learn and develop best when they feel safe and accepted.
Does my child have a regular key person?
Reliable relationships give children security and orientation. That is why we build up this relationship particularly gently. At the same time, the children gradually get to know all the educators in the team and build trusting relationships with them as well, so they feel secure and well looked after across the whole team.
Do you respond to my child's individual needs?
Every child is unique and develops at their own pace. We take their personality, interests and needs seriously and make room for individual development.
How do you support my child's independence?
Independence grows in everyday life: when getting dressed and undressed, washing hands, eating independently, setting the table, tidying up or choosing games. Our educators encourage the children to try things out for themselves, reinforce them positively and share their joy in their successes. In doing so, they give as much support as necessary and as much freedom as possible.
What does a typical day at Kukita look like?
Recurring rituals such as morning circle, shared meals, play, exercise and rest periods give children orientation and security. At the same time, there is enough room for their own interests, discoveries and individual needs.
How much time do the children spend outdoors?
Exercise and experiences in nature are an important part of our daily routine. We use our outdoor areas and the play opportunities in the surrounding area so that the children can move, discover their environment and gather a wide range of experiences.
How do you respond to my child's need for sleep and rest?
Sleep and rest are important for children's well-being and healthy development. That is why we deliberately make room for rest and relaxation in the daily schedule.
Our educators accompany this phase attentively, sensitively and without pressure to fall asleep.
Working with parents
How are parents kept informed about their child's development?
Regular, trusting exchange with parents is important to us. In short daily chats at drop-off and pick-up, our educators tell you about daily life at Kukita and your child's experiences. Dedicated development conversations give us space to look at your child's development together. In addition, parents' evenings are held to strengthen exchange and cooperation.
What happens if I have questions, requests or concerns?
We take our parents' concerns seriously and meet them with openness and appreciation. For us, good cooperation depends on mutual trust, honest dialogue and shared solutions.
Quality and professionalism
How do you ensure educational quality at Kukita?
Our educational work is based on shared principles and clear quality standards, which we regularly discuss and reflect on as a team with the heads of the facilities, the educational advisory service and the providers. Monthly meetings of the heads with the advisory service and the providers, as well as targeted further training, continuously safeguard and develop our educational quality.
How do you support your educators?
Our teams are accompanied by our educational advisers Swantje Brommelcamp and Sandra Mitterer. They support our educators with professional questions, their personal development and in reflecting on day-to-day educational practice.
What makes Kukita special?
At Kukita we combine a personal, family atmosphere with high standards of educational quality. The focus is on the children, their individual needs and trusting relationships. We want to create a place where children feel secure, become independent and discover the world with joy.
